Many organisations believe that their current security systems are protecting them from Criminal behaviour. They believe that the combination of Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention, URL Filtering, Anti-Virus and Penetration testing will keep them safe. But if this was the case then why are the proceeds from crime increasing year on year?
Many attacks are designed to be stealthy. You can’t necessarily see the attacks in action or the effects of the attacks.
One of the reasons for the massive rise in Crimeware incidents is the recent explosion in the availability of tools. You’ve probably heard of SaaS (Software as a service) but what about CaaS (Crimeware as a service). You can now buy fully automated Crimeware toolkits with support options over the internet.
