Aruba Networks Engages Security Solutions Provider Assurix

ArubaAruba Networks, the Mobile Edge Company, has announced a reseller relationship with award-winning IT security solutions provider Assurix. This new affiliation provides Assurix with the ability to offer secure wireless networking solutions that can be seamlessly integrated alongside Assurix's other corporate security offerings.

"Having carried out extensive research, we found that Aruba is widely regarded for its industry-leading wired and wireless security capabilities," said David Lannin, Managing Director at Assurix. "This finding was bolstered by the fact that Aruba's technology was also recommended by our distribution partner, Unipalm. Aruba places a distinct emphasis on wireless security and is the only WLAN vendor with an integrated stateful firewall for policy enforcement. We have already been involved with four projects involving Aruba in the first month of our partnership. The technology clearly speaks for itself."

Aruba's innovative Mobile Edge architecture allows users and devices to connect across any network - wired or wireless - and securely gain access to enterprise resources. The Mobile Edge is built on the notion of identity-based security, which is far more granular than traditional port-based security, since it applies policies at the user and device level.

Aruba's WLAN and mobility solutions have the ability to perform a series of checks on the user and the device in order to give the appropriate access privileges - all based on user identity.  This means that if a user cannot be authenticated, an IP address is not granted.  Once authenticated, user devices can be checked for potential threats and redirected to remediation systems as needed, and once given access to the network, unique security policies can then be enforced that follow the user wherever they go.

Thanks to Aruba's Mobile Edge architecture, Assurix can now provide a complete range of secure wireless networking capabilities and services - such as intrusion prevention, encryption, stateful access control and AP planning - as part of an integrated offering in combination with Assurix's other best-of-breed network security solutions.

"Assurix has an excellent track record in the security space and we're looking forward to working with them," said Bob Vickers, UK Head of Sales for Aruba. "Aruba and Assurix understand that one of the greatest concerns of an IT manager looking to deploy a wireless network is security.  However, the Mobile Edge delivers the industry's most comprehensive security and authentication solution for both the mobile and fixed workforce - this makes for a doubly compelling proposition for enterprises."

Assurix are nominated for “Technology Innovator of the Year 2004 – Public Sector” by Computer Reseller News in their 2004 Annual Awards Ceremony

LONDON, UK – 1st November, 2004 – Computer Reseller News (CRN) announced today they are nominating Assurix for the 'Technology Innovator of the Year Award 2004 - Public Sector'. David Lannin, Managing Director of Assurix said “We are delighted to have been nominated for this prestigious award. The project is one of the most complex firewall and VPN security architectures in place anywhere in the world to date. As well as providing a global VPN infrastructure in over 70 countries worldwide, it had to be flexible enough to cater for a huge range to local issues, often in war-torn countries where network access and IT consultancy were potentially dangerous or even life threatening activities. Deployment areas include Eastern Europe, South America, Asia, Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan and poverty stricken areas in Africa”.

Assurix have deployed ground breaking technologies such as VPN Routing infrastructures and Dynamic Client Desktop Security Polices for remote users – all centrally managed.

"Security advisories announced from CERT and other leading bodies in the UK, Europe and the USA can be deployed within minutes to security devices worldwide. The ability to prevent breeches of security by applying patches released in the Western World to firewalls in the likes of Cambodia, Armenia or Palestine in minutes, is a huge benefit to our client”.

UK Government Organisation with Assurix Deploys Check Point Security Solutions in Over 70 Offices Worldwide for Improved Functionality and Centralised Management

LONDON, UK – 2nd August, 2004 – Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) will replace its entire existing security infrastructure with intelligent security solutions from Check Point. The move is part of DFID’s strategy to ensure high availability and business continuity for every office and remote worker worldwide. The security solutions, which will be managed from London and Glasgow, will provide staff in over 70 offices throughout the world with new functionality such as secure and reliable video conferencing and remote access. Assurix, an IT security consultancy, will assist DFID with the implementation.

DFID plays a key role in eliminating poverty and promoting sustainable development through activities such as reconstruction projects, humanitarian assistance and the organisation of bilateral aid. Many of the countries in which DFID has a presence are war-torn and have minimal networking infrastructures and communications, so DFID chose to provide its staff with secure access from home in the event that they are not able to reach an office. In addition, the use of video conferencing will considerably improve the way DFID staff members communicate and share knowledge across the organisation.

“Check Point solutions were evaluated with strict government rules on the use of certified products and budget constraints in mind, and we found them to meet every requirement, and much more,” said Tony Armstrong DFID technical systems advisor. “High availability was our main priority, but we are also seeing major benefits with the excellent Check Point management interface which enables the entire network infrastructure to be centrally managed and saves us a significant amount of administration time.”

DFID is in the process of implementing VPN-1 for site-to-site connectivity and VPN-1 SecureClient to enable employees to work remotely or from home. In addition, DFID will be using Check Point SmartCenter, enabling DFID to manage security from a single location, set up security policies in new offices quickly and easily and reduce costs of administration support and site visits. Finally, Check Point’s ClusterXL load sharing and high availability VPN/firewall solution will be implemented to prioritize network traffic and avoid network down-time.

“By implementing Check Point solutions, DFID network administrators can rest assured that their global infrastructure will be secure and simple to manage, while their staff benefits from added flexibility of having remote access to the corporate network,” commented Nick Lowe, Regional Director, UK, Ireland and South Africa for Check Point Software Technologies. “Internet security is absolutely critical for government organisations that must comply with strict government standards – they must make sure that security is up-to-date to ward off the latest Internet threats and ensure that employees can access highly sensitive data in a secure, timely manner.”

New requirements uncovered during testing will also be rolled out including VPN routing, IP telephony and traffic prioritisation – functionality which had not been possible with DFID’s previous security infrastructure.

Assurix become an Accredited Partner with Waterford Technologies, a leader in Email Management Solutions

NEWBURY, Berkshire – June 12th 2003 – Email management software vendor, Waterford Technologies, awards Assurix Limited Accredited Reseller Status. In an environment where employees continue to steal time from their bosses through email abuse, Assurix delivers solutions that assist in counting the cost and detecting the culprits.

Focusing only on IT Security enables Assurix to offer the highest levels of technical knowledge and expertise coupled with an unprecedented level of customer care. By working closely with carefully selected vendors at the forefront of their fields, such as Waterford Technologies, Assurix offers leading IT Security solutions that compliment their specialist services.

MailMeter is a non-invasive, email management system that allows companies to track all internal and external email usage, in order to address issues such as email abuse, employee productivity, corporate privacy, legal liability, bandwidth consumption or non-compliance with the company’s ‘Acceptable Usage Policy’ for email.

Shannon Goree, Operations Director at Assurix, says, “Companies are wasting thousands of pounds a year on unnecessary telecommunications and IT costs and lost staff productivity, as well as leaving executive officers open to lawsuits, because they are still unaware of, or have no means of tracking the growing abuse of corporate email systems.”

She continues, “Email usage is fast becoming the stealth way of employees stealing time from their bosses. What’s needed now is passive, non-invasive management of all email that will effectively track employee usage without compromising privacy. Using MailMeter, employers are able to expose offenders and create awareness amongst staff that email mis-use is an unacceptable trend and practice.”

New research by Waterford Technologies has concluded that at least 35% of email in any organisation is non-work related. Four of the top ten domain names that employees are communicating with are typically free Internet Service Providers rather than business addresses, whilst three out of the top five attachments being sent and received within companies are non-business related.

Ian Davidson, UK Country Manager of Waterford Technologies, comments, “We are very pleased to have signed Assurix as an Accredited Reseller for MailMeter, and their knowledge and experience will be invaluable in helping us to firmly establish MailMeter at the forefront of this new market for email management.”

Davidson continues, “Too many companies are still relying on an ‘Acceptable Usage Policy’ for email or filtering and blocking tools to combat email abuse, yet neither effectively manages the situation. A free seven-day evaluation of MailMeter is available from Assurix and the findings often leave directors astounded at the sheer volume of email abuse within their organisation.”

MailMeter does not infringe employee privacy rights because it does not read the content of individual emails. Instead, the software provides business reports that include information on email attachments, headers and the domain names that emails are being sent to and received from. Managers then have irrefutable evidence of all email mis-use, recorded as it happened, which means they are able to easily manage, amend and more importantly enforce their Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP) for email, acting from a position of knowledge rather than guesswork.

MailMeter prices start from £899 for 50-Mailboxes and MailMeter is compatible with either Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino. Contact Assurix for further details on how MailMeter can help in your business.

About Waterford Technologies
Waterford Technologies (www.waterfordtechnologies.co.uk) provides communications solutions that enable businesses to stop corporate email abuse by intelligently managing, amending and enforcing the way in which employees are using their Email systems. Waterford Technologies maximises the business benefit and productivity enhancements their customers derive from information and communications technology (ICT), by delivering innovative applications, products and services.

He added: “Assurix understands the legal market faces similar challenges to other industries, with more importance on critical areas such as secure transmission of documents; remote access ensuring client data confidentiality; non-repudiation and content analysis.”
