Two Factor Authentication & GovConnect the SecurEnvoy Solution – 10th December 2.30pm
The use of Two Factor Authentication is a mandatory element of the GCSx Code of Compliance. SecurEnvoy turns any GSM phone into an authentication token, with no additional end-user hardware required, providing a cost effective two-factor authentication mechanism.
This system, currently deployed in many UK Local Authorities will provide the following key features:
- No smartcard/token deployment, renewal or replacement costs
- Direct real-time integration into existing user directory via LDAP
- No PIN management issues as existing Windows password is the PIN
- No need for users to carry another token
- Ability to authenticate if out of GSM range
- No Software required on phone

Many UK Local Authorities wishing to connect to Government Connect are currently investigating the need to record, log, store and retrieve network, file and user based logs on their networks.

The Code of Connection prescribes that any device that leaves the network must comply with strict protection criteria including Full Disk Encryption.
